INK targets cub reporters, graduates
26 June 2018INK Center held a half day training workshop today, targeted at junior reporters and final year university students with interest in investigative journalism.
The participants were trained on how to develop in-depth stories, basic techniques on investigative journalism as well as tips on searching for information on the internet.
Another notable element of the training was to identify training needs for investigative journalism in newsrooms as well encouraging young trainees to identify practical tools and methods they can employ to bolster their reporting, particularly skills investigative reporting.
Speaking at the workshop, INK investigative journalist, Kago Komane encouraged journalists to exercise patience when dealing with stories of investigative nature saying such stories require time and deeper corroboration with experts. Media houses that participated included: Mmegi, Weekend Post and Business Weekly and Review. Three lecturers and students from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology also attended the workshop, including two graduates from University of Botswana.
